Loulou de la Falaise

I was reading my book “Just Kids” by Patti Smith last night and she had mentioned a fashion designer Loulou de la Falaise.  I wrote the name down and went on a Google search.

Loulou de la Falaise was born in 1948 and is most known for being a fashion muse and designer affiliated with Yves Saint-Laurent.  Her mother was Maxime de la Falaise who was a model for Schiaparelli.  It was because of her mother’s career and status as a fashion icon that drove Loulou to the world of high fashion.

Maxime...

Loulou moved to Paris and in the 1960s she met Yves.  He fell in love with everything about her and immediately wanted her in his Saint Laurent social group and everyone else fell in love with her too.   There relationship can be compared to Andy Warhol and Edie Sedgwick’s – They became inseparable and together they made fashion history.

Yves retired in 2002 but that didn’t stop Loulou, she has built her own identity designing handbags, shoes and jewelry.  She also creates ready-to-wear and home objects.  Check out her line “Loulou”
